This Park in the north east of Scotland in the heart of the Highlands is a tourist's dream. It covers 1748 sq miles (4528 sq km). Five of the six highest mountains in the UK are here and 55 mountains over 3,000 feet (called Munros). It is the most popular ski resort in the UK and there is plentiful cross-country skiing, mountain biking, hill walking and climbing. The malt whiskey distillery in the area is part of the Malt Whisky trail. There are steam trains to ride, watersports on the lochs, woodland paths and the dramatic Cairngorm plateau itself, the highest in Britain, and the coldest!
