The rolling pastures, ancient woodlands and valleys of the western Weald and the dramatic chalk downland and coastline featuring the iconic Seven Sisters cliffs characterize this National Park area, occupying 628 square miles (1627 sq km) on the south coast of England. The South Downs Way is the principle of many long distance paths stretching the length of the Park from Winchester in Hampshire to Eastbourne in East Sussex. Within its borders the Park includes the two historic Sussex towns of Arundel and Lewes.
