The Cambridge Folk Festival, a four day event organized by Cambridge City Council, is held on the site of Cherry Hinton Hall near Cambridge. The festival that originated back in 1964 is renowned for its eclectic mix of music and headline acts have included Paul Simon, Van Morrison, Sinead O'Connor and more recently Joan Baez and Joan Armatrading. The performance spaces are in marquees and camp sites. In addition to invited artists, members of the audience can perform and also there are facilities for people to practise together or attend workshop sessions.
