Opened in 2009 the Infinity Bridge is a pedestrian and cycle footbridge across the 125 metre wide River Tees near Stockton town centre in the north-east of England. The winner of an international architecture design competition, this unique bridge is described as a dual, bowstring bridge. It has a pair of continuous, differently-sized structural steel arches with suspended decking. The arches form a double rib over the river pier and are held together in one continuous curve. The official name Infinity Bridge, derives from the infinity symbol formed by the bridge and its reflection.
