The Raspberry Pi is a credit card-sized single-board computer developed by the Raspberry Pi Foundation to promote the teaching of basic computer science in schools and developing countries. The first generation (Pi 1) was released in 2012 and won T3's Innovation of the Year. These boards were very affordably priced with a cut down model with limited capabilities released in 2015 for only US$5. In 2016 the Raspberry Pi Foundation announced that they had sold eight million devices, making it the best selling UK personal computer.
