The International Isle of Man TT (Tourist Trophy) Race is a motorcycle timetrial event held annually on the oldest motor cycle racing circuit still in use, using public roads. First established in 1907 it was seen as the most prestigious motor-cycle race in the world, the ultimate test for both competitors and machines. Spectators traditionally tour the Snaefell Mountain Course on motor-cycles on the middle Sunday. Each lap measures 37 3/4 miles (60.7 km), taking in over 200 bends and ascends from sea level to an altitude of over 1,300 ft (396 m). Thousands of spectators watch on the circuit.
