Glamis Castle is situated in Angus, Scotland. Known as the finest castle in Scotland, it has been the home of the Lyon family since the 14th century. The present building dates largely from the 17th century. Glamis was the childhood home of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, wife of King George VI and their second daughter Princess Margaret was born there. William Shakespeare's Macbeth fictitiously resided at Glamis Castle and many legends and fables surround it, including ghostly goings on! An illustration of the castle features on the reverse side of the Scottish £10 note.
