St Ives is a seaside town and port in Cornwall on the coast of the Celtic Sea. Formerly a commercial fishing town it is now primarily a popular holiday resort with a sandy beach and winding cobbled streets. It achieved Best UK Seaside Town from the British Travel Awards in 2011. St Ives has become renowned for its number of artists and it has an exclusive artistic heritage in south-western England. As well as The Tate museum, visitors are attracted to The Leach Pottery established in 1920 which played a pioneering role in creating an identity for artist potters in Britain and worldwide.
