Osborne House is a former royal residence of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert on the Isle of Wight. The house was built in 1845 as a summer home, designed in the style of an Italian Renaissance palazzo. 'It is impossible to imagine a prettier spot' Queen Victoria said. The builder was Thomas Cubitt, responsible for the main facade of Buckingham Palace. Following her death in 1901 the house was used as a training college for the Royal Navy. These days visitors can see the family rooms and state rooms as well as Queen Victoria's private beach and her personal bathing machine!
